Top Kentucky Halloween Costumes Breakdown

Number one on our list of Kentucky’s most popular Halloween costumes is the Clown costume. A classic in its own right, you may also consider dressing up as one of pop culture’s many famous clowns, like fast food mascot Ronald McDonald or Krusty the Clown from “The Simpsons.” Keeping with the spooky season, you could also go the scary clown route by dressing up as Pennywise the Dancing Clown from Stephen King’s “IT.” Or even Art the Clown from the Terrifier horror film franchise, which will see its third installment hit theatres on October 11th, 2024.

Much like the Clown costume, we’re also projecting several other timeless Halloween costumes to be popular within the Bluegrass state. On October 31st, expect to see plenty of Pirates (3), Princesses (4), and procrastinators —  by which we mean Ghosts (5). Cutting two eye holes in a bed sheet to make a Ghost costume is a standby for individuals who left their costume planning until the very last minute.

There’s plenty of comic book character representation within the top 10 most popular 2024 Halloween costumes as well, with Batman (5) slated to be the most popular of these. The Caped Crusader is known for his brooding persona, making Bruce Wayne’s alter ego an excellent choice for spooky season. In fact, one of the most popular runs of Batman comics is the 13-issue limited series Batman: The Long Halloween, which hit comic stands between 1996 and 1997. Last month, a sequel series called Batman: The Last Halloween began its long-anticipated run, with Jeph Loeb (writer) and Time Sale (art) returning.

Spider-Man slings his way to number 6 on our list. And with the massive success of Sony’s animated Spider-Verse films, there may be just as many Miles Morales Spider-Man costumes as there are Peter Parkers. Next up, Michael Keaton’s iconic “bio exorcist” Beetlejuice looks to be the seventh most popular Kentucky Halloween costume. The sequel to the original film Beetlejuice Beetlejuice arrived in theatres last month.

After returning to the big screen in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine, Wade Wilson (AKA Deadpool) checks in at number eight. Meanwhile, Batman baddie Joker ranks ninth and is also enjoying a stint in cinemas, appearing in the sequel to Todd Philip’s gritty 2019 origin story, The Joker: Folie à Deux, which opened across North America on October 4th.

Finally, as the tenth most popular 2024 Halloween costume, the Witch has certainly cast its spell across Kentucky.
