How Do The Indianapolis Colts Do In Away Games During First 8 Weeks?

Fact Checked by Nate Hamilton

What started as a season full of promise is quickly going haywire in the capital city of the Hoosier State, as the Indianapolis Colts are 0-2 after falling to the Houston Texans and Green Bay Packers by a combined margin of eight points.

Indy’s tough luck start to the year comes in spite of second-year QB Anthony Richardson throwing for three touchdowns and 416 yards in two games with a QBR of 58.9, speaking to the razor-thin margin for error in today’s NFL.

Now, Richardson and the Colts are tasked with rebounding at home against Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears on Sunday, with ESPN BET Kentucky listing Indy as a 1.5-point home favorite in the Week 3 showdown at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Even for the best teams, away games can be a challenge for NFL teams. At BetKentucky.com, we used Sports-Reference.com to find the records from the 2019-2023 seasons to see how the Indianapolis Colts performed at away games during the first eight weeks of the season. If you participate in Kentucky sports betting, the information could prove useful before you place your next Colts wager.

How Have Colts Performed In Early Season Of Late?

Overall, the Colts have managed to tread water out of the gate over the last half-decade, with an aggregate winning percentage of .553 and a total record of 10-8-1 in those contests, speaking to the steady rise of the club under head coach Shane Steichen since he took over last year.

Now, it’s up to Richardson and the other 52 men on Indy’s roster to turn the tide on a tough-luck start to the year when the Colts host the Bears on Sunday, marking the second home game of the 2024 NFL season for Steichen’s team.

A year ago, the Colts were 3-5 through eight weeks of the year, with a 1-4 mark at Lucas Oil Stadium, which is something that Indy will look to avoid repeating in the weeks ahead.

Luckily for Steichen and company, the Colts are favored in their third game of the regular season, which should help buoy the team’s confidence ahead of a pivotal early season showdown with Chicago in the capital city of the Hoosier State on Sunday afternoon.
