Given Kentucky’s longstanding connection with whiskey, you’d expect the Bluegrass State’s top Christmastime drink of choice to involve the spirit in some way, which is exactly what Kentucky residents have done in 2024.
That’s because the state’s populace went with eggnog as their top holiday drink this year, with the custard concoction that’s usually mixed with either bourbon, whiskey or rum scoring a six-point win over peppermint mochas and wassail this year.
In total, eggnog managed to score 15 search interest points in Kentucky, while the other two drinks were able to round up nine points apiece to place second overall in the state, ahead of hot toddies and mulled wine, which closed out the list in the Bluegrass State.
BetKentucky.com wanted to break from Kentucky sports betting updates and get into the holiday spirit by seeing what holiday-themed drinks are the most popular in Kentucky. Which Holiday Drinks Do Kentucky Natives Prefer?
The custard-based beverage known as eggnog scored a decisive win in Kentucky, with the drink that dates back to The Modern Bartender’s Guide in 1878 beating out a quartet of holiday classics.
Peppermint mochas and wassail scored nine points apiece to place second overall in Kentucky, while hot toddies (two search interest score) and mulled wine (one search interest score) were the other drinks to make the cut in Kentucky this holiday season.
At day’s end, there was no competition for the holiday standard known as eggnog, though, with the dessert drink beating out a host of warmed-up holiday drinks to take home the top spot in Kentucky this Christmas.
