With Kentucky sports betting on men’s and women’s college basketball conference tournaments in full swing and Selection Sunday just around the corner, state residents are stocking up on their latest snacks to sit and watch hours and hours of basketball action.
With that in mind, March 14 is National Potato Chip Day.
BetKentucky.com took a break from reviewing Kentucky sportsbook promos and used Google Trends to see what states were most interested in potato chips. Then, we narrowed down which flavors locals love the most, according to search interest scores between Feb. 27 to March 5. Here is how popular potato chips are in the state:
States Most Interested in Potato Chips
The Bluegrass State is tied for seventh with Michigan for the states most interested in potato chips with a score of 82. Ohio topped the list with a score of 100, while Wyoming (95), Wisconsin (89), North Dakota (89) and Pennsylvania (88) rounded out the top five. Here are Kentucky’s favorite potato chip flavors:

Kentucky residents love Jalapeno flavored potato chips — almost as much as Kentucky betting apps — with a search interest score of 19, followed by Sour Cream & Onion and Classic tied for a close second place with 17.
Did you know there is a potato chip company located in Kentucky? Louisville-based Spudz Chips was founded nine years ago (2015) by Louisville resident John Good, who started the business after coming over from the thoroughbred horse industry.
Some of the more unique flavors they have are Kentucky BBQ, Irish Pub Style and Sweet Chili Thai.
Right across the Ohio River from Kentucky, Cincinnati, Ohio-based Grippo’s is another potato chip manufacturer serving Original, Barbeque, Salt & Vinegar, Sweet Maui Onion, Cheddar & Horseradish and Sour Cream and Onion wavy chips.
