It seems hard to believe, but Black Friday is now just two weeks away.
Shopping on the day after Thanksgiving isn’t as big as it used to be, thanks largely to the increase in online shopping. Because of that, there’s also a special day, Cyber Monday, set aside for those who prefer to shop at home or during their workday. Both days are prime days for savvy shoppers looking for the best deals on the must-have gifts this season.

Just how big will this year’s shopping season be? According to the National Retail Federation, the forecasted per-person spending for the holidays is $902, up from last year’s $875. The NRF estimates shoppers will spend about $640 on individual gifts for family and friends, with the remainder going toward candy, decorations, and other items.
While Black Friday and Cyber Monday are big shopping days, the foundation adds that 45% shop before November, mainly because they can spread out their budget while avoiding crowds and the last-minute shopping rush.
In addition, more than half, 57%, of all shoppers are expected to buy some gifts online this season. It’s 59% of those between 18-24. Department and discount stores also remain popular, with nearly half of all adults and similar percentages of 18-to-24-year-olds visiting those stores.
